Beginning in 2004, the American Institute of Hydrology introduced a revised program to recertify all professional members. The program was revised and reissued on September 19, 2005. Every five years, on the anniversary of your initial certification, you are required to submit an affidavit that you have met the requirements to support continued certification. Your original year is the first two digits of your certification number. You can find your certification number on your certificate or on the enclosed dues invoice.

For example, a certification number is: 94-H-2345.
Where, 94 is the initial year of certification
H is the discipline
2345 is the certification number
The recertification years for this example would be 1999, 2004, 2009, etc.

Accordingly, if the current year is a five year multiple of your anniversary year, you are required to submit a completed Recertification Affidavit before December 31 of that year, that documents your PDC's for the preceding five year period. AIH will notify you during that year to remind you to submit the form, along with your fee, by the end of the year you are required to be recertified.

* During the Phase In period of five years, members are required to document PDC's under the new requirements for the years 2004 to the present. For the years prior to 2004, members may use the previous process, such as listing conferences and updating your resume, to document your continuing development.
