The American Institute of Hydrology, SSPEED Center, and the Energy and Environmental Systems Institute at Rice University are joint sponsors of the conference: "Severe Storm Prediction and Global Climate Impact on the Gulf Coast." This two and half day event will be held on Wednesday, October 29, through noon on Friday, October 31, at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Short courses will also be offered on October 28. The conference will focus on the technical, emergency response, social, economic and legislative issues associated with tropical storms and hurricanes; and the impacts of global climate change on Gulf Coast infrastructure. We are accepting abstracts and/or posters due by August 1st. See the website for more details. Speakers from across the nation and from public, private and academic sectors will convene at this conference. It will be broad in scope and have inter-disciplinary coverage.
